5 Tips for one hell of Christmas Social Media Strategy on Instagram

Updated: Dec 11, 2018

Christmas-themed graphics, giveaways, influencer marketing, and customer care. How to take advantage of Instagram to win the hearts (and wallets) of your followers during the Christmas season.

We almost didn’t recover from Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and already we’re being thrown into Christmas super sales.

Not to mention the anxiety that comes with finding the perfect gift for our mums.

During this season, our Instagram is going to start to look like a Christmas tree and I bet you’re saving a lot of stuff from Instagram too, hoping to find that ideal jumper for your sister. But how can we use Instagram to increase engagement and sales on our profiles? According to recent research, almost 60% of customers look for inspiration on Instagram before making a purchase. If our goal is to stop this 60% from scrolling past our products, it’s time for us to do something! Here you’ll find 5 brilliant tips to plan a killer Instagram Strategy for Christmas!

1) Get inspired by the best brands

In a century dominated by information overload, coming up with a unique and different idea for your social media content is Mission: impossible.

So, where to start? Our advice is to get inspired by the best brands.

If they’re the best, it should mean something, right? Take a look at their posts, videos and stories and try to think outside of the box.

2) Give your followers a treat

We are talking about customer care. This should apply to all year round, but around Christmas time it goes a long way to give your customers that extra incentive.

During these holidays, the shopping process is strongly linked to an emotional component. Therefore, we must not neglect or abandon the customer when they need us. Use Instagram as a way of treating your followers: reply promptly to their comments and schedule some informative posts about deliveries or re-stocking products. If you’re running a couple of days late with deliveries, let them know before they start to freak out.

3) Involve influencers

Plan some activities with influencers to promote your brand during Christmas time. Involve only those who are relevant to your brand and your followers. Create engaging content with them and try to make your content emotional and not “salesy”.

Remember to plan these activities ahead of time to secure the best influencers for yourself.

4) Play with graphic design

Instagram, compared to other social networks, is the platform that best leverages the power of images and videos. To achieve our goal and stop people scrolling past us during Christmas, we absolutely have to stand out from the crowd.

Create Christmas themed graphics, designs, and templates. If you don’t have the time do it yourself be sure to head over to our shop and download our Editable Christmas Template for Photoshop. You won’t be sorry you did!

5) Create contests and giveaways

Who doesn’t love giveaways? This is the perfect time to gift something to your followers.

An idea that we absolutely love is the Advent Calendar. For 24 days before Christmas, you can treat your followers with one gift a day, revealing what the gift is day by day. This not only rewards your customers but also gives them a reason to keep coming back!
