Think of your Insta feed as a magazine. People come across your page and see your whole grid layout. At this point your grid has the power to entice hundreds of invaluable followers. But if you’re giving off messy and tasteless vibes, those followers will be gone quicker than a birthday cake in a shared office.
Finding the perfect aesthetic for your grid can seem challenging, but when it's done right it’s a strategy that can really pay off! 𝗕𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱, 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Nothing draws followers in like a satisfying colour-blocked scroll! A perfect example of effective colour-blocking is @ohhdeer, a stationary brand that changes up their colour scheme every few weeks. From audacious oranges to pinky pastels, this page does not shy away from its experimental ways to attract an audience. To make sure they keep things interesting they switch up their colours every 9-12 posts, giving subtle but eye catching hints of what’s to come. Being honest, they make this trend look like a walk in the park. But with some hard work, planning, and a creative mind, anyone can achieve this spectacular look.

Adding quotes to your feed can draw in that engagement from your audience on a personal level. With witty one-liners and relatable moments, quotes are a great way to build a grid with content that your audience can relate to. If you want to go one step further you could incorporate your quotes into a checkerboard layout. Just like your bathroom tiles at home, this layout lets you alternate posts one after the other, a popular example being a photo followed by a quote. This is a super easy way to achieve that consistency every insta page desires.

Ever feel like your grid needs a bit of tidying up? If you think of your pics in real life, they’d all most likely be organised neatly in frames, so why not bring that to your feed. Borders are a great way to put the focus on each pic you post without needing a strong strategy for how the grid will look like. Achieve the ultimate perfectionism whilst giving off calm and tidy vibes.

Creating a consistent look and feel for your brand across all marketing is really important, so don’t let that slip when it comes to your Instagram feed! Sticking to the same filter, colour scheme and editing process can help you get that aesthetic, consistent grid that you’re looking for, allowing your feed to beautifully flow. This trick we use for our own instagram, as you can see we post consistently sticking to our light and dark pinky vibes from posting quotes to announcing IG lives.

Instagram stories are a great way to show some behind the scenes action, but you can also put this content to great use on your feed! By using carousel you have the possibility to show multiple pics in one post, whether it be unseen footage from a campaign or a collection of influencers using your products. It’s a great way to engage with your audience by sharing more content, and even if a pic doesn’t fit in with your aesthetic you still have the opportunity to use it in a carousel.

UGC (user-generated content) consists of any form of content that’s created by users and consumers about a brand or product. By incorporating a mix of bold UGC and in-house designs you will be able to produce an engaging and relevant grid that matches your business’s vibes. Tie in the image with the message you want to convey in the caption and you will produce some A* content that also showcases your community’s work.
And if you don't know where to start in creating the perfect grid for your profile, Canva is a great tool to create content for your social media. The online platform makes graphic design accessible to everyone to explore and experiment with visual content.
Planoly is also a great app to have in your arsenal, not only it allows you to schedule your content in advance, but also it has a built in feature that gives you the ability to email a grid draft to others to preview.
Whether you’re launching your brand on Instagram for the first time, or are looking to give your existing feed some TLC, being creative and experimental will ultimately help you stand out from the crowd. Keep in mind that in order to master your grid, you have to be consistent. 𝗔𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆!
